Senior Water Resource Engineer

The Role

Our senior engineer role offers excellent opportunities for advancement and leadership in a dynamic environment. This opportunity extends from lead to principal engineers commensurate with experience.

  • Manage and deliver complex water resource projects including water management plans, environmental impact assessments, rehabilitation plans, flood and floodplain management studies, and hydraulic design projects
  • Advance your project management skills developing relationships with a variety of valued clients (energy and resources, government, infrastructure, land development)
  • Stretch your technical skills in water balance, flood modelling and civil design, working alongside recognised industry experts and our team of specialist water resource engineers

About you

The ideal candidate is an experienced and motivated water resources engineer, confident managing projects and progressing towards principal level.

  • Degree in environmental or civil engineering
  • Registered professional engineer (e.g. NER, RPEQ)
  • Minimum 6 years’ experience in water resources
  • Strong capability in one (or more) fields of water balance, catchment, flooding and / or stormwater modelling (e.g. GoldSim, TUFLOW, URBS, XP-RAFTS, MUSIC)
  • Confident with one (or more) spatial / terrain software packages (e.g. QGIS, 12D, Civil 3D)
  • Confident with Python / coding applications
  • Experienced in project management and maintaining successful client relationships
  • Excellent critical thinking, problem solving and communication skills
  • Keen to collaborate and share knowledge in a culture of technical excellence.

WRM graduate intake

Applications to join our graduate intake in Brisbane and Darwin open in April each year.

WRM graduates benefit from bespoke training and experience within a highly collaborative team environment.

  • Build experience across full range of surface water projects and capabilities
  • Develop specialist skills in surface water modelling including (e.g. GoldSim, TUFLOW, URBS)
  • Dedicated mentor to provide 1:1 technical and career guidance

WRM undergraduate program

Applications open in July for environmental and civil engineering students wanting to pursue a career in flooding and water resources in Brisbane and Darwin.

  • 12 weeks paid experience working with experts in surface water engineering
  • On-the-job exposure to a variety of challenging water and environment projects
  • Dedicated mentor to provide 1:1 technical guidance and training
  • Opportunity to contribute to our innovation working group
  • Connect with members of our highly successful graduate program
  • Option to continue paid work experience whilst completing studies
  • Automatic consideration for our graduate intake on completion of engineering degree
